Why choose polished concrete flooring?

When it comes to redecorating, your floor is an important part of the process. Here, the choice for many seems to be between carpet, laminate and wooden flooring, depending on the room.

But one finish that’s certainly on the rise is polished concrete. Not only does it look fantastic, but it provides clean lines for your home and can include the unobtrusive underfloor heating. This ensures the concrete is warm on your feet and offers a look that’ll last forever.

Concrete flooring does have an image of being a little industrial, but you don’t have to opt for a plain old boring grey. You can now bring in a number of colours to liven the floor space up, and textures, chips and sparkles can easily be included.

In fact, there are a variety of finishes, sure to give you a perfect finish that complements your home and tastes. For concrete flooring you should expect to pay costs starting at £60 per square metre.

You don’t have to worry about the messy installation either, because the company you choose will clear up everything so it looks brilliant. The floor will be dried and polished to an excellent standard. Of course, you should expect a little disruption to normal life during the installation, and pets and children will need to stay away from the area.

With a concrete flooring you don’t have the same level of maintenance associated with other options either. Once polished, all that’s required is a mop every now and then to remove build-up of dirt and grime.

The way the flooring is installed will typically vary from contractor to contractor, but you’ll be given a thorough briefing of what to expect over the period. When the floor space has been measured up you’ll also be able to talk through the options available and find a design that’s suitable.

The only real disadvantage with concrete flooring is the difficulty of having it removed at a later date if you fancy a change. Of course, never make a snap decision on anything such as concrete flooring, and ensure to run through your options before deciding on a finish.

In terms of longevity, the flooring will last as long as you need it and provides a stunning appeal to any home that’s unlike any other option.
